Channing Tatum seems to know the right amount of classy entertainment and spice to make any woman feel empowered.
The show resides in the world’s largest purpose-built Spiegeltent on Birrarung Marr. Boasting an indoor-outdoor foyer area where people can come early and stay late, it is the ultimate luxe touring venue that Australia has to offer.
Based on the movies Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL, this stage show reimagines a 70s striptease to be a holistic acrobatic, musical and dance production. With world-class creatives at the helm and professional dancers, the quality of the show is of a grand calibre.
Stand out performers include So You Think You Can Dance Australia runner-up and MML Dance Captain Charles Bartley for his exceptional dance display, Nathan Kara for his unbeatable tap dance ability and Ned Zaina who charms female performer Clare Billson with a duet aerial routine. Yet, all the dancers shine, and the casting has been tastefully designed to showcase a variety of backgrounds and looks to help attract all women within the Arcadia. When we meet Mike—a platinum blonde and chiselled dancer, the audience is roaring for his attention to be part of his duet routine where a spectator is placed on a chair and is lifted, twisted and pleasured in all sorts of ways.
Everyone is spellbound when a platform lowers from the roof and there sits a shirtless male dancer smashing it out on the drums (and flexing his biceps in the process). By the piano is a male dancer-singer and The X Factor – Australia’s Joshua Williams serenading his audience with an acoustic rendition of Sam Smith’s ‘Latch,’ which is completely and utterly jaw-dropping. So now these boys can sing, dance, flip and play music? Okay, they have officially won the ladies over.
While the male entertainment and female MC (Alexia Brinsley) are top notch, it is also a great social event where you can take all the video content you want with your girlfriends, make it rain with fake money and indulge in an expensive food and drinks menu that is delivered to your table / area. While the only downside is that Channing Tatum is not there in person to welcome you to his show, the male (and female) cast members are just as fiery and talented.
