The company is still in its premature years, but founder Jordan Charles Herbert is proving to the Melbourne dance industry there is no such thing as baby steps in this business.
No matter what country you are from or what dance school you train at, I see the same choreography over and over again. Have we lost our sense of creativity or are we just playing it safe?

SOPA is doing something no other full time dance school has done before. The merging of musical theatre and dance together to bring one compacted performance is wonderful. Be warned, the journey is long. A two and a half hour show in the second act alone in addition to the first show and an interval can be taxing on the body. We begin with the Musical Theatre class to present The Tenants.

Can you do the Can Can like Sandringham can?
Don’t panic if you have never watched the movie or been to the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Sandringham College can transport you to the world of sequins, high kicks and splits. The stage is set with the iconic windmill soaked in a vivid red wash. The red lipstick, thigh-high fishnet stockings and ruffled skirts shout Moulin Rouge in this theatre.
December is the peak season for partner split-ups and join-ups. The desperate plea can be heard of females looking for a male, capable of stepping one foot in front of the other, hoping they might join them at the hip – literally.
So if you find yourself in that predicament of looking for a new partner (like me), what do we need to look for?
Here are six things to keep in mind when searching for your future dance partner.
I have recently started teaching again and the single thing I love most of all is to see a smile on my students’ faces. So how can you become that teacher who inspires and motivates their students?
There are five easy steps to follow. No qualifications necessary. It is all about attitude and approach.
I know this may sound crazy, but November may be the perfect month to ‘lose’.
It is approaching the end of the year and stakes are high to get the best results. You and your partner have been training three to six times a week. You see your coach more than your own mother and you count foxtrot timing in your sleep.
Get ready kids, Storytime Ballet is back!

A career in dance is certainly the road less travelled.
Many young and talented dancers are ready to leap into a professional career, but do they know the slim odds before diving in? As time ticks over, the majority of dancers struggle in this vulnerable and unstable industry. Only a small percentage of dancers make it to the ‘big time,’ landing successful roles, nailing auditions and working within a professional company.

Five leading ballet companies from around the world are set to get involved in a 20-hour live stream to showcase their upcoming performances, with exclusive behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage and interviews with industry leaders.
